Description
Hydrogen chloride is a colorless gas, is highly irritating when contact
with body tissues. It is toxic and has a sharp suffocating odor. It
is nonactive and noncorrosive, but makes a highly corrosive hydrochloric
acid when absorbed by water.
Uses
Hydrogen chloride is used for manufacturing rubber, pharmaceuticals,
inorganic and organic chemicals, gasoline refining, metals processing,
and wool reclaiming. It is also common in the chemicals industry for
production of chlorinated derivatives. In the electronics industry
it is used for semiconductor materials.
