Description
Nitric oxide is nonflammable, colorless, noncorrosive and toxic. When contact with air, brown fumes of nitrogen dioxide are formed. Nitric oxide is an oxidizer and support combustion. It reacts with oxygen, oxidizing agents, halides and hydrocarbons. At higher pressures it becomes unstable.

Uses
Nitric oxide is used for the production of nitric acid and nitrosyl halide, as well as exhaust emission measurements.
